Rachel Deboer has been a self-taught face and body painter for over 10 years and a professional actress for over 25 years. After earning her B.A. in theater performance, she relocated from the east coast to Los Angeles. There she earned a spot with "The Dream Theater," known for its fantastical, other-worldly shows combining surrealistic costumes and makeup where she was lead actress, director, and body paint model for a multitude of avant garde events.
She moved to Maui, Hawaii eight years ago and launched Fabulous Faces. Her very first professional face and body paint gathering was the World Body Painting Festival in Austria in 2008. Expecting to only art model she decided to compete as a painter and returned with 3rd place in the Semi-Pro Brush and Sponge category as well as being featured in Illusion Magazine. FABAIC 2009 was her next stop where she surprised us with her one-of-a-kind presentation during Katie Hunt’s “Show & Tell” session. Immediately afterwards we invited her to become part of next year’s staff.
Rachel has been teaching theater for over 15 years, has many years experience on both ends of modeling and painting, and can bring to the body art world a much needed focus on the personal relationship between artist and model. This experience and dedication earned her the title of Model Coordinator of the FABAIC. She hopes to infuse in models a deeper transformational connection and greater invested presence with the artist’s body paint vision as well as to help both artists and models to present their masterpieces in the best light possible. She will be working closely with models, artists and our competition team to help us produce a well presented competition where the artist, the model are presented in a way that honors both and the artwork. We are truly looking forward to experience the fruits of her efforts and wonderful creative ideas before and after the 2011 Body Art Competition
